Hope Kroll (née Epstein; born May 14, 1968) is an American contemporary collage artist based in Paso Robles, California. She is internationally known for her densely layered 3-dimensional collages. Kroll’s imagery is gleaned from a wide array of vintage books, technical trade catalogs, photographs, journals and other vintage paper ephemera. Her 3-dimensional collage technique is widely recognized as a new approach to found imagery.
Her work has been featured in numerous books, magazines, and periodicals.
Early life
Hope Kroll was born in Skokie, IL. where she spent her early years. Kroll attended the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1990. Kroll then moved to San Francisco where she earned her Master of Fine Arts in Painting at the San Francisco Art Institute in 1992. In 1998, Kroll moved to Paso Robles, California where she now resides with her husband and many pets.
