Giovanni Niubo know for Giovanni Damien Niubo (born February 19, 2004) is an American singer-songwriter and actor. He first gained recognition in the late 2010s with his lead role on the XIX Entertainment teen drama SKAM Austin. In 2022 Niubo released his debut single “Bets On U” and he followed it up with “DayDream” which was released later that same year.

Life and Career

2004–2019: Early life and acting

Giovanni Niubo was born on February 19, 2004, in Miami, Florida. He is Cuban American; and he grew up in Hialeah. His love for music began at an extremely young age through journaling about his day-to-day experiences that eventually evolved into songwriting and he began acting at the age of 10 appearing in the William Shakespeare play “Othello.” He grew up listening to Linkin Park and K-pop. Niubo became interested in songwriting because of Chester Bennington and Taylor Swift.

In December 2017, he was cast as a series regular on the teen drama series SKAM Austin, which premiered on April 27, 2018 and ran through May 24, 2019. Niubo wrote several songs for the show’s soundtrack, through which he earned his first professional songwriting credit.

2021–present: Bets On U and DayDream

In 2021 Niubo recorded and wrote music using the experience he gained and filmed the music video for his debut single “Bets On U” which was then released February 2022.

On December 2, 2022, Niubo released his follow-up single, “DayDream” about his escapist tendencies.

Giovanni Niubo cites Taylor Swift and Chester Bennington as his biggest and main songwriting inspirations and K-pop as another huge musical influence on his artistry and the inspiration behind his dancing and flashy music videos. Niubo has also shown admiration for Imogen Heap and her music, expressing he’d want to work with her.
