Ilya Fushman (born March 3, 1981) is an American Scientist, Physicist, Venture capitalist and business executive. Early in his career, Fushman was a principal investor at Khosla Ventures as well as an executive at Dropbox. He became a general partner at Index Ventures in 2015 and managing member and general partner at Kleiner Perkins in 2018.
Career & Education
Ilya Fushman was born in March 3, 1981 and has a master’s degree in physics from Stanford University. Fushman was a lead author on a quantum computing paper published in Nature in 2007, and his research was also published in Science. Early in his career he worked with Khosla Ventures as a principal investor, and was also an executive at Dropbox, where among other roles he was head of product for both Dropbox and Dropbox for Business. In 2014, Business Insider ranked him at 84 on its Silicon Valley 100 list of investors.
Ilya Fushman joined Index Ventures in San Francisco, California in May 2015, becoming the firm’s first new general partner since 2010 and working with companies such as Slack, Intercom, and Optimizely. Fushman was a speaker and judge at TechCrunch Disrupt SF 2016.
In March 2018, Ilya Fushman joined the investment firm Kleiner Perkins as a managing member and general partner. In a 2020 interview, reporter Emily Chang described him as a member of the “new Kleiner”, after a large number of changes in the Kleiner Perkins board over the prior year.
Business Insider ranked him 89 on its 2022 The Seed 100 list of “best early-stage investors.”
