    Alex Sheen, (born May 27, 1985) is a motivational speaker, American author, and philanthropist. He is known for founding the non-profit because I said I would.

    Early life

    Sheen attended Olentangy High School graduating in 2003. He attended Ohio University, where in 2007, he was awarded a bachelor of business administration degree in marketing.


    Alex Sheen worked for Hyland Software from 2008 until 2012. They were holding several roles including Market Intelligence Specialist, Innovation Manager, and Corporate Strategy Lead.


    On September 4, 2012, Sheen’s father passed away. While giving his father’s eulogy he spoke of how his father treated his promises. The speech he later titled “Because I said I would”, was the first time Alex introduced “Promise Cards”. Later that year, Sheen founded because I said I would, a non-profit dedicated to the betterment of humanity through promises made and kept.

    In his time as CEO and Founder, Alex Sheen has walked across Ohio to raise awareness for the victims of sexual violence, carried out a promise to volunteer for 52 non-profits in a single year, and he continues to help others understand the value of keeping their promises.

    One example is when Alex filmed a man confessing he killed another driver in a drunken crash.
