Kayla Unbehaun is an Illinois missing girl who vanished with her mother 6 years ago. Now a teen, she was just found in North Carolina after six years. After missing her family filed a case suspecting Heather Unbehaun. A felony warrant for kidnapping was later issued for Heather on July 28. Heather may have taken Kayla to Athens, Georgia.

Before Fame

When Ryan went to Heather’s house to pick up Kayla, the mother, and daughter weren’t there. Despite being told that Heather had taken Kayla for a camping trip in Wisconsin for the Fourth of July, Ryan reported them missing due to his inability to contact them.

Trivia

This case was first released on November 1, 2022, as a part of the final third of volume 3 of the Netflix reboot of Unsolved Mysteries, which was released as a three-week Halloween event. It is featured at the end of “Abducted by a Parent” as a part of a Missing Children Roll abducted by one of their parents alongside CJ and Billy Vosseler, Luis Alderete-Martinez, Huaiyu and Binyu Chin, Reuben Blackwell Jr., Tammy, and Diego Flores, and Christopher and Lisa Zaharias.

Family Life

Kayla Unbehaun was born on July 5, 2017, in South Elgin, Illinois, and the daughter of Heather Unbehaun and Ryan Iskerka. Kayla’s parents had separated after she was born, with Ryan getting primary custody and Heather getting visitation rights.
