History
Archer Materials was founded on February 25, 2007, and was formerly known as Archer Exploration (until 2019). Since December 2017, Archer has been associated with the executive leadership and vision of Mohammad Choucair, a chemist, who was a key inventor of chemically produced graphene. Although Archer has been developing advanced semiconductor devices since 2018, it was not until 2021 that this became its primary business.
Archer became a public company via an initial public offering (IPO) and was admitted to the Official List of ASX Limited on Wednesday, 8 August 2007, with 38,000,000 ordinary shares issued at A$0.20 per unit under the security code AXE. In 2021, Archer received funding of A$25 million through a capital raising that was managed by Canaccord Genuity (Australia) Limited and Taylor Collison Limited.
Since 2021, the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS) code, an industry taxonomy developed by MSCI and Standard & Poor’s (S&P), for Archer was Information Technology – Semiconductors. Archer Materials is developing a qubit processor for applications in quantum computing and quantum technology based on a metallic-like carbon nanosphere, and a biochip integrating graphene field-effect transistors (FET).
