About

Adgang Forbudt (founded in 2012) is a Danish art duo consisting of artists Ida Jas and Jesper Hintze

Working together on the same canvas, they combine abstract and figurative art with the sketchiness of graffiti.

Adgang Forbudt means ‘restricted area’ or ‘private area’ in Danish and is also the title of their first work in their later series.

Process

Ida Jas creates an abstract background in acrylic paint, after which Jesper will create a specific theme consisting of layers of figurative work using an ink pen, watercolors, collages, and mixed media.

Themes

Early work was inspired by cave paintings and simple patterns.

In later work, themes consist of utopian society and homelessness mixed with contradicting festive items such as balloons. They balance suffering and fear with cheerful, colorful, and childlike elements.
