Messi to take every challenge in Miami
Lionel Messi has been to Miami many times before and usually coming for enjoying vacation as he has a home in the city. But this time it is different. Now he is not just a guest, but a player of Inter Miami as well.
Argentina’s World Cup-winning captain’s arrival this year is due to his career. The superstar wants to replicate the professionalism that the world of football has been witnessing in him for more than a decade and a half, and he wants to replicate it all at Inter Miami. Messi was holidaying with his family for so long after his departure from PSG. He set foot in Miami with his family on Tuesday. Inter Miami will welcome the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner in a special ceremony on Sunday at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
After 19 years of incredible feats and records in European football, winning the Copa America and The World Cup with Argentina, Messi has colorful career achievements. Especially in US soccer, where the challenges are much less, the surroundings are different. Star footballers come here mainly in the twilight of their careers.
But Messi’s view is different here. In the new chapter of his career, he will go to the field with the same intensity as before.
“I am happy with my decision. I am ready and looking forward to the new challenge. I am not going to change here either. My mindset and thinking will not change at all. No matter what I am in position, I will definitely try to give it my all for myself and the club and to perform at the highest level,” Messi told an Argentine TV channel on Tuesday
Inter Miami said in a statement that there will be entertainment arrangements for the stadium’s spectators on the night of Messi’s reception. The event will be open to the club’s seasonal ticket holders.
At Inter Miami, Messi will get Sergio Busquets, a close partner of many struggles in Barcelona, and former Barcelona and Argentina coach Gerardo Martino will be the coach. Messi can make his first appearance for his new club on July 21, in a Leagues Cup match against Mexican club Kruz Azul.
