About
The US Billboard 200 is a ranking chart of the 200 most popular music albums in the United States. It is published weekly by an American music and entertainment company Billboard magazine. The chart is based on sales of albums in the United States.
History
The US Billboard 200 started its journey in 1945. The album chart was not published weekly at the beginning. The published time was three to seven weeks passing before updating. The first number-one album on the new weekly list was Belafonte by Harry Belafonte in 1957. Though it started 10-30, it expanded to 175 positions, then finally to 200 positions on May 13, 1967.
