History

Digitalbox Publishing Ltd was formed on 9 December 2015 as a digital media publishing business. In 2016, They expanded its publishing team to include ex-Future PLC editorial director, Jim Douglas, to lead the content team and ex-Factory media director, James Carter, to lead the commercial operation of the business. Carter became the chief executive officer of Digitalbox, In July 2016.

In February 2019, the business floated on the alternative investment market of the London Stock Exchange as Digitalbox plc (via the reverse takeover of a cash shell Polemos plc) with a view to acquire other digital media assets.

In March 2019, They acquired Mashed Productions Limited, owners of the Daily Mash.

The Tab

They acquired Tab Media which runs an online news website, The Tab, covering youth and student culture for UK university students, in October 2020.

In May 2022, They announced it intended to acquire the web and mobile platform assets of TVGuide.co.uk Limited.

The Poke

In December 2022, Digitalbox acquired the business and assets of humour website thepoke.co.uk for an undisclosed sum.
